Why would reinforcement in a plantation shutter be beneficial? Overall, we wanted to create a product that would be maintenance free and last a lifetime for customers. After studying the market, we realized wood had a tendency to warp over time due to moisture and we noticed the same with a MDF shutters as well, all first hand experience. So we knew PVC shutters were the way to go. However, solid PVC had limits are far as size goes, therefore we reinforced the stiles and louvers with aluminum. For example, many PVC companies do not build panels larger than 24”-26” inches wide due to the fact that PVC can sag over time. Therefore, we decided to build a reinforced aluminum shutter were we can build panels up to 36” inches to support many of the 36” inch window openings builders commonly use. We did not just stop at louvers; we reinforced the stiles as well to make the strongest plantation shutter we could.
