Did you know that plantation shutters could be used to cover any glass doors? Plantation shutters are great solutions for doors of every sort. There are two primary sets of glass doors that generally get covered. These two glass openings are glassing glass doors and French doors. Of course shutters can be used as doors themselves for hallways or closets. Often times we will build shutter panels for our clients that will be used as doors in a home for room dividers. The two primary needs for different doors are sliding glass doors and French doors, as we mentioned above. However, we do want to go into detail of how these systems work.
French Door Shutters are mounted to the doors themselves, adhering to the door to essentially become one moving piece once mounted. The shutters are mounted to the door typically using special installation screws. French Door shutters do add privacy to the glass opening while allowing the perfect amount of light in where needed. Sliding glass door shutters are a popular option for any glass door. We call this system a by-pass. By installing a track system around the top of the window this allows shutter panels to move back in forth on the track system, bypassing each other. Bypass shutters can be preferred over verticals, roller shades or any other soft window treat due to the fact they will last a lifetime and provide the proper amount of privacy. Alumacore shutters are manufactured to last a lifetime and stand up the constant use a sliding glass can demand.
