There are many intricate parts that bring a shutter to life! The shutter panel consists of louvers, rails and stiles. The stiles of the panel are vertical, and the louvers and rails are perfectly fit between them. Each panel has a top and bottom rail. These rails can be different sizes depending on the over all height of the shutter. Often times a divider rail can be added to the shutter panel. Did you know the divider rail has 3 main uses? The most important is the added strength to the panel. However, the divider rail also covers the area of window locks with the addition of light control. The top and bottom section of the panel can now function independently, providing complete light control as well as privacy. Each louver has a special louver pin in each end of the louver called a tension pen. These pins help provide the proper amount of tension to the louvers to allow them to operate efficiently.
How do we add additional style to our shutters? We start with the selection of louver size; 2 ½ , 3 ½ , and 4 ½ inch louvers that are best suited for your home. Next you have the choice of standard tilt or hidden tilt. Standard has the tilt bar in the front center of the louvers, which provides a more traditional styling. Hidden tilt has an aluminum tilt bar on the back rear corner of the panel, and all the louvers are attached with a pan head screw to prevent stripping. Lastly, the frame choice! We have 4 beautiful decorative Z frame choices to choose from and 3 outside mount frames as well.
